Awakenings Upclose to encourage artists to ‘push their musical boundaries’
Written by rhythm86 on February 20, 2024
Awakenings is taking a new approach with its latest festival concept, Awakenings Upclose, which will adopt a more progressive outlook, encouraging artists to ‘push their musical boundaries as they explore cutting-edge techno sounds.’
Taking place at Awakenings‘ spiritual home of Houtrak, Spaarnwoude-park, The Netherlands, on 18 and 19 May, the event will see familiar names such as Nina Kraviz, Ricardo Villalobos, Joris Voorn, 999999999, Rebekah, AnD, I Hate Models and others share the bill with no less than 16 back-to-back sets, and 25 artists making their Awakenings debut.
Among the back-to-back performances to take place over the weekend are Colin Benders x Speedy J, ROD x Stranger, Gigi FM x Kanding Ray, Perc x Wallis (live) and Amoral x Beste Hira.
According to the organisers, Awakenings Upclose ‘isn’t about the grandeur of headliners; it’s about immersing yourself in an exploration of new and old, a broadened techno horizon within the purest essence of the genre’.
Taking place in a more intimate setting, the experience promises to be smaller in scale but impactful, fostering connections between artist and attendee through innovative stage design and enhancing the festival atmosphere with light art installations.
‘For those who have danced with them under the stars, Awakenings Upclose promises the same passion for music, but now, with a more personal touch. Awakenings invites you to be a part of this evolution,’ the organisers state.
Tickets for Awakenigs Upclose are now on sale here.
