Berghain’s 52-hour New Year’s Eve celebration is a marathon, not a sprint

Written by on December 20, 2023

Berlin club Berghain has done it again with the lineup for its New Year’s Eve party, with festivities running from just before midnight on Saturday 30 December, right through to dawn on Tuesday 2 January.

The 52-hour ‘Silvester Klubnacht’ party will welcome more than 50 acts, with Answer Code Request, Daria Kolosova, Edfemin, Fadi Mohem, Steffi and The Lady Machine among those set to grace Berghain’s main hall over the course of the duration.

Elsewhere, Avalon Emerson, Boris, Etapp Kyle, Gabrielle Kwarteng, nd_baumecker, Octo Octa, Yen Sung and Sedef Adasï will feature among the artists in Panorama Bar, and Budino, Cormac, Franz Scala, Pablo Bozzi, and Mala ika will grace the XXX-Floor.

Finally, the Elektroakustischer Salon will welcome DJ performances by The 7th Plain (aka Luke Slater), Barker and Nick Höppner, as well as live sets from Tobias, Beste Hira, and Bendik Giske.

In a statement on its website, Berghain said of this year’s Silvester Klubnacht, “This year, our New Year’s Eve party kicks off on Saturday night at the usual Klubnacht starting time, unfolding as an extended version with more than 50 acts on all floors of the house. All the best for 2024!”

Also, if you are looking for a more immediate way to burn off the Christmas turkey, the venue is also opening on Christmas night (25 December), with Chris Cruse, Kléo, Lakuti and Tama Sumo on board for the ‘Finest X-Mas’ party in Panorama Bar.

Elsewhere, earlier this year, Berlin-based Irish author Liam Cagney announced a forthcoming book, Berghain Nights: A Journey Through Techno And Berlin Club Culture, which will explore the legacy of both Berghain and other seminal venues in the German capital, such as Tresor and KitKatClub.

It’s set to be published in 2025 by Reaktion Books.
