Blanke leans back into heavier side on two-part Deadbeats return, ‘Deranged / Monster’
Written by rhythm86 on May 25, 2023
Less than a week removed from the announcement that he’d be doubling up at Legend Valley this fall, Blanke shared that he’d be doubling up on something else just a couple of days before he’d fly out to Las Vegas. And he knew that his circuitGROUNDS set on Sunday evening couldn’t happen without some new music came before it, with Blanke heading back to Deadbeats for a two-for-one package, Deranged / Monster.
The double-sided Deadbeats return comes as Blanke’s third original release of the year—fourth total release including the official delivery of his ÆON:MODE edit of “Laserbeam”—after two stints with Monstercat and his first unaccompanied label outing since his second drum ‘n’ bass EP landed in early August of 2022. Both the A-side and B-side of Deranged / Monster turning back towards Blanke’s sinister, hard-hitting bass after a recent melodic-focused run, with both offering up a balanced crossover between the worlds of midtempo and dubstep. While we now wait to see them in action again live from the Las Vegas Motor Speedway—with Blanke confirming the set will be uploaded at some point—stream his Deadbeats reunion below.
