Listen to Production From Daft Punk’s Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo on Travis Scott’s “Utopia” Album

The post-Daft Punk dystopia has been real, but a reemergence from Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo is healing the wounds of the legendary robots’ absence.
Travis Scott has joined forces with de Homem-Christo to produce a song on Utopia, the chart-topping rapper’s fourth full-length album. “Modern Jam” is the fabled Daft Punk member’s first musical composition to release in the wake of their shocking disbandment in 2021.
With its distorted bass, “Modern Jam” is a raw and unapologetic descent into the madcap underbelly of vintage French electronic music. Thanks to its dark and palpitating beat, the track calls to mind Daft Punk’s timeless work producing music for the cybernetic wonderland of Tron: Legacy.
Scott’s star-studded album enlists a who’s who of elite writers and producers. Joining de Homem-Christo as credited artists are Kid Cudi, James Blake, The Weekend, Beyoncé, Sampha, Bad Bunny, Future and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon.
Thomas Bangalter, de Homem-Christo’s former bandmate, also recently released his first Daft-Punk solo project since the split, an orchestral album called Mythologies. Nevertheless, fans holding out hope for a robot renaissance shouldn’t hold their breath after Bangalter poured cold water on the idea of reunion earlier this year.
