German singer/songwriter and composer Marc Grünhäuser recently announced the launch of a new musical project, Quicche, and is set to release a forthcoming album on R&S Records.
Frisia, the debut album by Quicche, is set for release on 11 April, and ‘pairs tender vocals and subtle electronics with epic and flamboyant indie-folk tropes’, according to a press release.
While the album boasts a myriad of ethereal moments, the stand-out track for us is Somewhere Silent, a sonic lullaby that drifts in and out of the subconscious.
A student of Popular Music at the renowned Folkwang University of Arts, Grünhäuser’s studies have shaped his musical achievements in recent years – he was an award winner at the popNRW Awards in 2020 – as well as various collaborations with theatres and dance companies.
He spent a month in northern Germany writing, recording and producing the album, setting up a studio in a secluded house and limiting his contact with the outside world.
Quicche – Frisia is set to be released on R&S Records on 11 April. The first single released by Quicche, TAGIOG, came out last August, check it out below for a taster of what to expect from the new album.
