#MyRecordBag – Demi Riquísimo’s go-to 90s classics
Written by rhythm86 on March 20, 2024
Demi Riquísimo cut his teeth managing Motion nightclub in Bristol, the famed skatepark-turned-club set in a matrix of old warehouse spaces, and this vibe has influenced his productions, which are tinged with nostalgia – his latest release, Windows 95 Anthem, was crafted using a variety of vintage synths, including a Casio CZ-3000 and a Yamaha DX.
The two-track EP, which was released on Diplo’s Higher Ground label earlier this month, can be downloaded/streamed here.
Elsewhere, Riquísimo has released on labels such as Life & Death, Shall Not Fade, and Homage, while his own, vinyl-only label, Semi Delicious, has issued cuts from the likes of Kassian, Black Loops, and more.
For the latest instalment of 909originals’ #MyRecordBag feature, we asked Demi Riquísimo to name his go-to, bona fide 90s classics. Over to you, Demi!
Tin Tin Out – The Feeling
“This one has been making an appearance in my sets of late. I love playing it after a stint of playing some deeper tracks, as it helps lift the mood. This duo from the 90s had some great club tracks, and this one hit the chart in 1994. They later did another chart topper with Emma Bunton from the Spice Girls.”
Boiling Point – Free Spirit
“This one is such catchy one from 1993, and I love it so much that I made an edit of it. Trancy plucks and synthy stabs combined with 909 drums. My version has beefier drums and a bassline.”
Corrado – Trust
“This is a classic which is adored by many – including me, which is why I also made an edit of this one!”
Snakebite – The Bit Goes On
“This one is timeless for me. It’s tough and crunchy, and always brings the crowd together.”
Toxic Two – Rave Generator
“This one mixes ravey stabs and techno drums. I love the original but I always felt it needed a bit of a housier groove, so I made an edit which has been going down well in my sets.”
Thanks Demi for your contribution! You can keep up to date with all his latest releases and upcoming dates here.
