Electric Forest Temporarily Evacuates Under Dark Skies And Approaching Thunderstorms
Written by rhythm86 on June 22, 2024
UPDATE: The forest reopened its doors right before midnight with some schedule adjustments, including moving DJs to tomorrow’s lineup. So far the plan is to keep the party going until 4 A.M. tonight, as planned from the start.
We really wish we did not have to cover yet another magical event having to close its doors. The next fallen victim is sadly one of the most beloved events of the year. On June 22nd, Electric Forest notified its goers to seek shelter and prepare their campsites for the inclement weather. Rothbury, Michigan is under heavy rainfall and thunderstorms that threaten the safety of the operations.

A couple of hours ago, the organization took to social media to instruct attendees to leave the event site and head to their vehicles and protected areas. Later on, they sent an update, requiring people to take down their campsite to prepare for the incoming weather. First Ultra Music Festival in Miami, then Movement Music Festival in Detroit. It seems that 2024 ought to be one of the unlucky years for EDM events in the US.
We are still waiting on information for Sunday, June 23. Tonight’s headliners included Barclay Crenshaw, John Summit, Sara Landry, and LP Giobbi. Artists like Charlotte de Witte, Excision, Hamdi, and Maddi O’Neal all are scheduled to play on Sunday.
Electric Forest has taken place annually since 2008 and has become a staple in the EDM scene thanks to its fusion of electronic and jam band billings. Following a January Village of Rothbury council meeting, the festival is approved to return to Rothbury at least through the year 2035.
This is an updating story and we will continue to notify you.
